Vintage Minton England Imari Style Demitasse Coffee Cups & Saucers – Set of 4

A beautiful set of four Minton demitasse coffee cups with four matching saucers, decorated in an ornate Imari-influenced palette of deep cobalt blue, rust-orange, green, cream and gold.

The decoration combines scrolling borders, stylised flowers and foliage with rich blue panels, giving the set a wonderfully traditional appearance. Each small coffee cup is paired with its matching decorated saucer, making eight pieces in total.

The bases carry variations of the historic Mintons crowned globe backstamp, including examples marked STRATFORD / ENGLAND, together with hand-painted numbers and decorator marks. The use of MINTONS and ENGLAND is consistent with historic English Minton production. Minton's surviving archive also confirms that factory marks, pattern numbers and decorator marks were used together to identify wares.

Although Stratford appears on one of the backstamps, we have not identified the decoration conclusively as the documented Minton Stratford pattern. That known pattern is recorded from 1928 and has a different green-band, brown-scroll and fruit/floral design. We therefore describe this set conservatively as Minton Imari-style demitasse ware rather than assigning an uncertain pattern name.

Condition: Good vintage condition overall with noticeable age-related wear to the gilding, particularly around rims and decorative edges. This has been taken into account in the price. Please examine the photographs carefully for the extent of the gilt wear and general vintage condition.

A particularly attractive little set for collectors of Minton porcelain, English coffee ware and Imari-inspired ceramics. ☕🏺
