Antique Noritake Japan Maruki Scenic Tea Cup & Saucer with Gilt Detail

A beautifully decorated antique Noritake porcelain tea cup and saucer, featuring an intricate Japanese garden scene with figures in traditional dress, architectural details, trees and colourful floral decoration.

The design is particularly striking, with rich cobalt-blue borders, multicoloured enamel decoration and gilt detailing. The cup has an elegant pedestal foot and gilded handle, while the matching saucer continues the detailed scenic decoration.

The underside carries the blue Noritake Maruki backstamp with “Made in Japan”, an early Noritake export mark. Rather than assigning the piece a precise year, we would conservatively describe it as early 20th century / pre-war.

Although pieces with similar figural decoration are sometimes described as “Geisha” ware by sellers, we have not identified this as an official Noritake pattern name, so the term is used only descriptively.
