Antique Royal Doulton King Arthur’s Knights D2961 Lidded Twin Handle Jar

A fascinating antique Royal Doulton Series Ware lidded jar in the documented King Arthur’s Knights pattern D2961, featuring a colourful medieval tournament scene.

The jar has a distinctive architectural form with twin angular handles, fitted decorated lid and genuine pierced rectangular openings around the lower body. The earthenware is finished in a muted grey-green/celadon glaze, with dark brown geometric borders and hand-coloured Arthurian imagery.

The central scene depicts armoured knights on horseback at a medieval tournament, picked out in blue, yellow, orange, green and other enamel colours.

The underside carries the Royal Doulton England lion-and-crown backstamp together with the pattern number D2961.
