Caithness Amethyst Art Glass Engraved Owl Vase – Vintage Scottish Glass

A beautiful vintage Caithness art glass vase in rich amethyst purple, decorated with an engraved owl perched amongst branches.

The gently rounded tumbler-shaped vase has a substantial clear base, with the amethyst colour becoming particularly deep towards the lower section of the glass. The frosted owl decoration provides a lovely contrast against the polished surface.

Caithness is renowned for its Scottish art glass, and engraved wildlife designs were produced in a number of variations during the later 20th century.

This example is unsigned, so no individual engraver or exact production year has been attributed.
