Caithness Glass Flamenco Midnight Vase – Colin Terris c.1987

Vintage Caithness Glass Flamenco vase in the striking Midnight colourway, designed by renowned Scottish glass designer Colin Terris.

The vase is formed from clear glass with dramatic black and white ribbons sweeping in a spiral through the body. The spirally ribbed construction distorts and refracts the stripes through the glass, giving the design a wonderful sense of movement from different angles.

The Flamenco range was designed by Colin Terris and introduced by Caithness around 1987. The black-and-white version was officially known as Midnight, while other colourways included the pink-striped Dawn. Flamenco remained in production until approximately 2005. 20th Century Glass

Colin Terris joined Caithness Glass in 1968 and became one of the company's most important designers. He was awarded an MBE for his contribution to British glass and is particularly celebrated for his influence on modern Scottish glass and paperweight design. Colinterris
