Pair Antique T.G. & F. Booth Dresden Blue & White Lidded Tureens c.1883

A wonderful pair of genuine Victorian blue and white lidded tureens by T.G. & F. Booth, decorated in the firm's Dresden pattern, registered in 1883.

The rectangular tureens feature an elaborate cobalt-blue transfer-printed design of stylised flowers, scrolling foliage and geometric detailing against an aged white ground. Both retain their original fitted lids with decorative handles.

The underside carries the T.G. & F.B. maker's mark and Victorian registration diamond. T.G. & F. Booth operated at the Church Bank Works and Highgate Pottery in Tunstall, Staffordshire between 1883 and 1891, producing earthenware and ironstone.

The Dresden design itself was registered on 8 May 1883, allowing these pieces to be identified particularly closely within the firm's Victorian production.

Condition

These are genuine antique pieces approximately 140 years old and show appropriate signs of age and use.

One tureen has no noticeable chips or cracks.

The second tureen has a chip to the base and a chip to the lid, both of which are shown clearly in the photographs.

There is also age-related crazing, staining, discolouration and general surface wear. These characteristics have been left visible rather than disguised and form part of the pieces' antique character.
