Pair of Vintage John Tams Sylvan-Jasper Blue & White Classical Vases – 9.5"

A beautiful matching pair of vintage John Tams Sylvan-Jasper vases, produced at the historic Crown Pottery in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.

Each vase has a rich matt cobalt-blue ground decorated with an intricate contrasting white frieze of classical figures amongst trees and foliage, finished with a distinctive geometric border around the neck.

The bases carry the Sylvan-Jasper / John Tams Ltd, Crown Pottery, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England, Patent backstamp.

John Tams operated from Crown Pottery in Longton and became John Tams Ltd in 1912. The manufacturer is particularly associated with decorative and domestic earthenware produced in the Staffordshire Potteries.

A particularly attractive pair displayed together, ideal for a mantelpiece, console table or as part of a collection of British jasperware and Staffordshire pottery.
