Pair Vintage Japanese Red Satin Glass Pagoda Vases with Abalone Inlay – 9"

A striking matching pair of vintage Japanese satin glass vases, standing approximately 9 inches tall and finished in a rich ruby-red tone.

Each vase has an elegant baluster form with a flared ruffled rim, narrow waist and raised circular foot. The bodies are decorated with atmospheric Japanese landscape scenes incorporating pagoda-style architecture, rocky forms, trees and delicate gilt detailing.

The hand-decorated landscape scenes feature pagoda-style architecture, gilt cloud detailing and dramatic raised rocky forms. Small pieces of iridescent mother-of-pearl/abalone shell are inset into the rockwork, catching flashes of blue, green and turquoise as the light changes.

Their matching form and dramatic colour make these particularly effective displayed as a pair on a mantelpiece, console table or sideboard.
