Vintage 1960s Relpo Humpty Dumpty Ceramic Planter – Made in Japan

A wonderfully characterful vintage Humpty Dumpty ceramic planter by Relpo, dating from around the 1960s.

Humpty has an oversized smiling face with large blue and black eyes, rosy cheeks and a pink bow tie, finished with a jaunty pale-blue hat. The planter opening is concealed behind the head, making this a particularly fun example of mid-century Japanese novelty ceramics.

The original foil label remains attached and reads:

MADE IN JAPAN

Relpo produced a variety of Japanese-made novelty and nursery planters during the mid-20th century, including documented Humpty Dumpty designs.
