.Vintage Cobalt Blue & Gilt Porcelain Footed Trinket Box – Courting Couple

An ornate vintage porcelain trinket box with rich cobalt-blue panels, extensive gilt decoration and romantic Rococo-style courting-couple scenes.

The box has an unusual shaped form raised on four decorative feet, with a removable scalloped lid finished with a double-loop gilt handle. Alternating cobalt and pearlescent-white sections are embellished with floral gilt decoration, while colourful figural medallions decorate both the lid and sides.

The romantic scenes are typical of the Fragonard-inspired decoration widely used on European decorative porcelain during the 20th century. Similar boxes were produced by a number of factories, including documented Limoges makers, but genuine Limoges examples carry identifiable factory marks.
