Vintage Copeland China England Blue & White Butterfly 7" Side Plates – Set of 4

A lovely set of four vintage Copeland China side plates, decorated in classic blue and white with delicate butterflies, scrolling floral and foliate motifs and a patterned geometric border.

Each plate measures approximately 7" / 17.8 cm across, making them ideal as tea, cake, dessert or side plates. The scattered butterflies give the traditional blue-and-white decoration a particularly charming character.

The reverse carries the Copeland China England factory backstamp. Copeland has an important place in British ceramic history through the Spode works at Stoke-on-Trent, although these pieces are correctly described according to the Copeland mark they actually carry.

We have not identified a documented pattern name for this particular decoration. Although similar pieces are sometimes described by sellers as “Blue Butterfly”, we are using butterfly descriptively rather than presenting it as an official Copeland pattern name.
