Vintage Loučky Sabina Czechoslovakia Pink & Gold 15-Piece Coffee Set for 6

A striking vintage Sabina porcelain coffee service by Loučky, Czechoslovakia, comprising a complete coffee setting for six with serving pieces.

The elegant Sabina form was designed by Czech designer Aleš Trpkoš in the late 1950s and manufactured at the Loučky porcelain factory. Its tall coffee pot, clean cylindrical cups and sweeping handles give the service a distinctive mid-century silhouette.

This example is decorated with an attractive pink and pale grey sweeping abstract design, complemented by fine gold detailing. The restrained decoration works particularly well with the modernist Sabina shapes.

The set comprises exactly 15 pieces:

• 6 coffee cups
• 6 matching saucers
• 1 lidded coffee pot
• 1 milk jug
• 1 lidded sugar bowl

This is the recognised configuration of a Sabina six-person coffee service. Surviving examples and current Loučky production using the Sabina form confirm the same arrangement of six cups and saucers with coffee pot, creamer and sugar bowl.

The pieces carry the Sabina / Loučky / Czechoslovakia factory mark.

Although the Sabina shape originated in the late 1950s, it remained in production for many years. I would therefore not date this particular pink-and-gold service specifically to the 1950s from the shape alone. The backstamp and decoration are better treated as later Czechoslovak production unless firmer dating evidence emerges.

Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition. Please study all photographs carefully for any age-related wear, particularly to the gold decoration, and for the individual condition of all 15 pieces.

A lovely example of Czechoslovak mid-century porcelain design, and much more distinctive as a complete six-person service than the individual pieces suggest.
