Collection: Aynsley China
Aynsley China Collection
Discover our collection of vintage Aynsley fine bone china, one of the best-known names in the history of the Staffordshire pottery industry.
Aynsley China was founded in 1775 by John Aynsley in Lane End, Staffordshire, an area that later became part of Longton in the heart of the English Potteries. The company initially produced tableware and decorative ceramics before becoming particularly celebrated for its finely made bone china.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, Aynsley developed a reputation for elegant shapes, richly decorated floral patterns and beautifully gilded finishes. Its teacups and saucers, coffee sets, vases and ornamental pieces became popular both in Britain and internationally, with many designs now collected for their distinctive English style.
Aynsley remained associated with Stoke-on-Trent and the Staffordshire pottery tradition for generations. Production changed considerably following later changes of ownership, making older British-made Aynsley increasingly appealing to collectors of traditional English china.
Our collection may include vintage Aynsley teacups and saucers, trios, coffee cups, tableware and decorative china, ranging from delicate floral designs to richly gilded and more unusual discontinued patterns.
Each vintage piece has its own history, and backstamps can provide useful clues to its approximate period of manufacture. Where possible, we research the pattern, backstamp and date of the individual pieces offered for sale.
